Avon Lake’s Old Firehouse Community Center, which functions as Avon Lake’s senior center, is home to a full range of programs and activities for all to enjoy.
The old firehouse provides an abundance of exercise programs to choose from such as indoor walking groups, yoga classes including gentle yoga, slow flow yoga and focused gently yoga. Other classes offered are classified by levels, Level 1 including a ‘Stability’ class which is designed to improve balance and lower body strength. Stability classes go all the up to Level 3 and get more intense the higher the level. A Level 2 would be their ‘Classic’ class which includes seated and standing exercises to increase muscle strength, range of motion and activities for daily living. Level 3 class includes their ‘Boom Muscle’ class which focuses on cardiovascular health and functional skill, working all major muscle groups with strength and conditioning exercise. Check out the Avon Lake Parks and Rec website to see a full list of classes offered!
Aside from workout classes, the Old Firehouse house also offers an array of other programs and activities such as Thursday Morning Movies, Bingo nights, Friday craft days and much more! A great place to gather and socialize with friends and fellow residents.
The Old Firehouse can also be rented out during evenings and weekends as a meeting place for community and civic groups.
The Avon-on-the-Lake Garden Club has done a wonderful job in creating a beautiful garden landscape and walking path around The Old Firehouse building. Walk around the path and learn about all of the plants that have been planted from the different plaques placed near the plants and flowers.
